Lee Roy Smith, age 84, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 in Jacksonville. Lee was born Feb. 19, 1928 in Bonifay to Horace and Ila Butler Smith. He was a veteran of the Unites States Navy having served 20 years, including during the Korean War. He retired as a Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman. He subsequently worked for University Medical Center and Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville. Most importantly, he was a loving, caring husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Patricia Smith; his daughter, Debra Braddock (Don); sons, Mike Smith (Telva) and Steve Smith; four grandchildren, Trista Bussiere (Xavier), Jillian Braswell (Brian), Ashley Smith and Christian Smith and three great-grandchildren, and his sister Thelma Johnson and her husband Clarence.
Lee was buried with military honors in Jacksonville on Dec. 6.
