Nancy Powell Kelley passed away peacefully at her home in Miramar Beach. Born in Memphis Tenn., on Aug. 2, 1947, she graduated from Central High School and attended the University of Tennessee. She was president of the Pi Mu Music Society of St. Louis and a member of the Beethoven Club of Memphis. She was a partner with her mother in the Doctors Exchange Answering Service for many years. Pursuing her interest in child health issues, Nancy joined the LeBonheur club of Memphis in 1989 serving in many capacities until she became its president in 1999. After moving to their new home in Sandestin Resort, she volunteered for various duties at Sacred Heart Hospital Emerald Coast and Sacred Heart Foundation where she served as the inaugural chair of the Foundation's Development Board. She also served on the hospital's Operating Board. She was a significant part of the planning for the new Family Birthing Center at Sacred Heart.
She is survived by husband, John C. Kelley of Miramar Beach; her daughter, Amy E Kelley of Miramar Beach; son, John Bradley Kelley; daughter-in-law, Margaret Kelley; granddaughter, Eliza L. Kelley of Memphis Tenn., and her mother-in-law, Louise W. Kelley of Spring, Texas.
She is predeceased by her father, Marian P. Powell; mother, Lena O. Powell of Memphis Tenn., and her father-in-law John C. Kelley Senior of Tupelo Mississippi.
Funeral Services were held at Community Church of Santa Rosa Beach Fl, 3424 W. Hwy. 98 on Saturday, Feb. 16. A public viewing was at 1 p.m., with the funeral program beginning at 2 p.m. Burial was immediately after the funeral program at historic Gulf Cemetery located on County Road 393 Santa Rosa Beach. While flowers are welcome, the family requests that donations be made to the Sacred Heart foundation Emerald Coast 7700 US Highway 98 W. Suite 300 Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459 and/or to LeBonheur Club Inc. 1047 Cresthaven Rd., Memphis, TN 38139.
