James William Thomas

Mr. James William Thomas, 92 of Chipley went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 in the Washing Nursing and Rehab Center of Chipley. He was a member of St. Joseph A.M.E. Church. He was enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during WWII.
His survivors include two sons, James Samuel Thomas of Dothan, Ala., and Cicil William Thomas; two daughters, Willie Jean Thomas of Chipley and Tammie Loraine Thomas of Dothan, Ala.; one son-in-law, Merritt Kent of Chipley; one sister, Maggie Ree Thomas Green; three sisters-in-law, Alma McIntyre, Cora Kirkland and Mary Louise Kirkland; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and nieces nephews and other relatives and friends
A celebration of life was held at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the St. Joseph A.M.E. Church of Chipley with the Rev. Larry Brown, officiating and the Rev. Alice Clark, pastor. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Military Honors. The family received friends Friday, June 20, 2014 from 6 p.m. to p.m. in the Cooper Funeral Home Chapel. The remains were in repose at the church one hour prior to services with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley, directing.
