Dovie Marlene Baggett, 75 of Bonifay, passed from this world into Eternity, Friday Nov. 2, 2012 at Flowers Hospital, Dothan, Ala. Dovie was born July 14, 1937 in Columbus, Ga., to Huey Lee and Clara Louise Butts (both deceased). She was the wife of L.B. Baggett for 57 happy years. Together they served in Ministry for Fifty (50) years accepting appointment to many Churches in Florida and Georgia . After pastorate ministry they served in other leadership positions within The Church of God of Prophecy. Since retiring to the local area Dovie continued her calling in other areas of ministry working as a Case Manager for the Holmes County Ministerial Association, Thrift store in Bonifay, FL. More recently she and Buddy were Store Managers of the family owned business T & B Hidden Treasures Antique store in Chipley, FL. Dovie was a faithful member of the Church of God of Prophecy, Bonifay, FL where she served as clerk & treasurer, pianist, prayer warrior and an encourager to all she met. Dovie Baggett was a woman who loved her family unconditionally. Her faith in God was unwavering and without limits. Everywhere she went it became a mission field. She was a friend and confidant to many.
Dovie is survived by her husband, L. B. (Buddy) Baggett and three children, son-in-law and daughter Billy & Sunny Tinsley of Bonifay; son-in-law and daughter, Dennis & Gay Shaw of Portland Tenn.; son & daughter-in-law, Allen & Wendy Baggett of Palatka; five grandchildren, Olivia Tinsley of Bonifay, Megan (Micah) Peter of Anchorage, Alaska, Matthew Baggett of Palatka, Tyler and Brandon Shaw of Portland, Tenn.; four great grandchildren, Hayden & Evan Tinsley of Bonifay, Caleb & Samantha Peter of Anchorage, Alaska; two sisters, Mary (Frank) DeLay of Hernando, and Patricia Fike of Dade City, and many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of her life was held on Nov. 5, 2012 at Sims Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Tinsley officiating , assisted by the Rev. Dennis Shaw. Interment followed at Bonifay Cemetery with Sims Funeral Home directing.
A Memorial service is scheduled for Nov. 17, 2012 at the last Church pastorate, Punta Gorda, for anyone from that area unable to attend the Nov. 5 service.
