Mrs. Leveda Slay Holiday, age 68, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was born Aug. 21, 1945 in Holmes County, to Millard and Louise Brake Slay. Mrs. Holiday was a lifelong resident of the Leonia Community. She was Baptist by faith and a member of the Leonia Baptist Church. She worked as a Lab Technician at the Walton County Health Department for 25 years before retiring. Then began working as secretary at Leonia Baptist Church in February 2010. Leveda was an amazing woman of God who was loved by all who knew her. Her words of wisdom and unconditional love made her an inspiration too many. She had a calming spirit about her and knew exactly what to say to anyone who came to her for advice or guidance.
Mrs. Holiday was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.D. Holiday of 49 years and two grandchildren, Josh Davis and Nickolas Holiday.
Mrs. Holiday is survived by son, Randy Holiday and wife Cindy; daughter, Angela Davis all of Leonia; three grandchildren, Justin Davis, Alicia Cook and husband Leo and Elijah Holiday; great grandchild, Amber Davis and two step great grandchildren, Terry and J.J.
Visitation services were held from 6 p.m. until, Friday, May 30, 2014 at her residence; 1048 Brake Road, Ponce De Leon. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 31, 2014, Leonia Baptist Church at 1124 Gillman Road, Leonia, with the Rev. Rodd Jones and the Rev. Stacy Stafford officiating. Burial followed at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery in Leonia. Pallbearers were Jerry Slay, JB Slay, Justin Davis, Jack Jones, Gene Brannon, and Jerry Jones. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Ray Carroll, Dalton Carroll, Jerry Stafford, Bob Wilkerson, Jimmy Stafford, Fred Gillman, Ricky Howell and Bob Locke. Floral arrangements are being accepted.
