In loving memory of Jean Forsyth Case Morrison, who passed away Sept. 22, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospice in Thunder Bay, at the age of 87. Predeceased by her husband Kenneth Lloyd (2010), daughter Peggy Heller (2011), parents Dr. George E. and Margaret Case, brothers T. Frederick Case and Dr. George R.B. Case. Survived by daughter Susan Di Tomaso and her husband Michael Di Tomaso, daughter Tanya Morrison and her partner Peter Antonioni, son-in-law Michael Heller; grandchildren Naomi and Paul Heller, Gregory and Dylan Di Tomaso; sisters-in-law Sheila Case, Barbara Case and Sally Morrison, niece Heather Morrison of Thunder Bay and many out of town relatives. Born in Sault St. Marie to Dr. George and Margaret Case, Jean grew up in Cobalt and Newmarket, Ontario. She attended Trinity College UofT where she met Ken, who attended Victoria College UofT. She and Ken married in 1948 following their graduation. After working for labour and peace causes Jean became a full time mother with the birth of Peggy in 1956. Following the arrival of Susan and Tanya the family moved from Ottawa to Thunder Bay in 1966. In 1974 Jean received her M.A. in History from Lakehead University. Until retirement in 1990 Jean served as research historian at Old Fort William. She will be remembered for her many publications including but not limited to Superior Rendezvous-Place: Fort William in the Canadian Fur Trade and Labour Pains: Thunder Bay's Working Class in Thunder Bay's Wheat Boom Era. Jean enjoyed spending time at her camp on Lake Superior where many family and community events took place. Jean was passionate about political activism, Saturday Afternoon at the Opera, a good game of bridge and blueberry picking. Memorial Service will take place at Fort William Historical Park, Visitor's Centre, Friday Oct. 3, 2014 at 2:30pm. Donations may be made to Amnesty International, Lakehead Unitarian Fellowship, Thunder Bay Historical Museum, Thunder Bay Symphony or a charity of one's choice. Susan and Tanya wish to extend deep appreciation to many loving friends who visited and cared for mom during the past year, especially during her stay at St. Joseph's Hospice.
