Passed away in hospital on March 23, 2015 after a short illness at the age of 91. Born in Queensport, Nova Scotia, on October 11, 1923, her mother died when she was just 8 years old and she spent her early years with her father and younger brother, Hilding, on the shores of Chedabucto Bay. She met her husband Bill in Halifax during WW2, they married and settled in Bill's hometown, Fort William, where they raised three sons. Ethelyn worked at Chapples Department Store for many years and the family took many trips back to Nova Scotia to visit relatives. She was an excellent cook and baker and she became an avid knitter. Many family and friends received afghans over the years. She was predeceased by her mother, Ruby, father David, brother Hilding, step mother, Emma and her husband Bill in 1995. Surviving are her three sons; Michael (Jaynee) of Langley, BC, Wayne (Betty) and Garry (Susan) both of Thunder Bay. Also surviving are grandchildren James, Lori-Ann, David, Deborah, Curtis and Jody, ten great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild. As per Ethelyn's wishes, cremation has taken place and internment will be at a later date in St. James Anglican Church Cemetery, Halfway Cove, Guysborough County, Nova Scotia. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 332 N. May Street.

I will never forget how Auntie Ethelyn got me started in building model kits at a very early age. She supplied me with an endless supply of kits from Chapples store. I have had this hobby most of life so I am eternally greatful to Auntie Ethelyn.
