Georgeanna R. Phelps, 78, of Homosassa, passed away Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at her home. A native of St. Petersburg, she was born March 3, 1935, to Lawrence and Geraldine (Ash) Michael, one of two children. In her working life, she served as a lab technician in several physician's offices and moved here in 1969 from Clearwater. Mrs. Phelps was a founding member of Springbusters, and along with many volunteers and members of her family, was directly responsible for the opening of the Bluebird Springs in Homosassa. Georgeanna was also a founding member of WeCare Food Pantry as well as a member of the Homosassa Civic Club and the Southwest Citrus Democrat Club.
Mrs. Phelps is survived by her four children, Christian "Fred" Lutz (Lori), Perry, Dawn Smith (Lynn), Omaha, Neb., Robert "Ed" Phelps Jr. (Nicole), Homosassa and Taylor Phelps (Pam), Homosassa; sister, Virginia Jackson, Brooksville; cousin, Craig Marlett, Crystal River; grandchildren, Stephanie, Steven, Sharisse, Tarin, Travis, Nicole, Devin, Lee, Sawyer, Amanda, Logan and Cheyenne; and great-grandchildren, Summer, Shawna, Alexis, Madisyn, Brayden, Christian, MacKenzie and Austin. Georgeanna was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Robert E. Lee Phelps Sr., Oct. 13, 2005.
Funeral Services will be 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa. Interment will follow at Galilee Cemetery in Chiefland at 3 p.m. Friends will be received from 10:30 until time of service at Wilder Funeral Home. www.wilderfuneral.com.
