Gail Bernard "Hoppy" Cassidy, 71, Inverness, Fla., passed away peacefully Saturday, March 22, 2014, at home. He was born July 22, 1942, in Mt. Clemens, Mich., to the late Thomas Bernard and Hazel (Hickman) Cassidy and moved to this area in 1979 from Miami. He was a sheet metal worker. He was an extensive world wide traveler, avid fisherman, gardener, jewelry maker, and enjoyed restoring and playing pinball machines. Hoppy was a member of Floral City Masonic Lodge No. 133 and belonged to the Masons for 49 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Pat Cassidy of Inverness; his daughter, Sallie A. Elston, Ridgeway, S.C.; three brothers, Glen, Gary, and Kenneth Cassidy.
The family will receive friends Friday from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home where Masonic Services will be offered at 3 p.m. Committal services will be at a later date.
