John W. "Bill" Catlette III, 72, of Lecanto, Fla., passed away Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at the VA Medical Center in Gainesville. A native of Lakemore, Ohio, he was born Nov. 19, 1940, to John W. II and Lessie (Carr) Catlette, one of two children. Bill, as he was known to all, was a retired truck driver, most recently with Earl Lee Trucking of Brooksville. Mr. Catlette served his country for 12 years in the U.S. Navy
as a damage control technician and firefighter
and completed a tour in Vietnam.
He moved to Citrus County in 1981 from Leesburg and is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Sandra Lee Catlette, Lecanto; daughter, Michelle Slaughter (husband Eddie); sons, Russell Washburn (wife Jody), Robert Washburn (wife Ginger) and Randall Washburn (wife Colina), all of Lecanto; brother, Kenneth Catlette of Ohio; father-in-law, Ralph McKibbin; and grandchildren, Eddie III, Madison, Sara, Ruby, Kyle, Robert III, Adam, Andrew, Kadin, Destiny, Jessie and Raelei. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Bruce.
