Leonard John Hazen, 75, of Homosassa, Fla., passed away Jan. 20, 2014, at Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center in Crystal River. He was born Dec. 4, 1938, in Midland Park, N.J., to Herman and Sadie (Vriesema) Hazen and he came here 10 years ago from Hackettstown, N.J. Mr. Hazen retired after 35 years as a pharmaceutical machinery and equipment salesman. During his career he traveled extensively throughout Europe and America. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and liked to ski. He loved to play golf and was a member of the Sugarmill Woods Golf and Country Club and joined the Men's Golf association.
He is survived by his companion in life, Barbara Sutphen of Homosassa; son, Glenn Hazen and his wife Kelly of Manteca, Calif.; daughter, Alison Hazen and husband Bob Kronmiller of Orange Park; brothers, Hank Hazen of Phoenix, Ariz., Harry Hazen and wife Meg of Lancaster, S.C., and Herman Hazen and wife Pat of Wake Forest, N.C.; a sister, Nell Lent and husband Bill of Homosassa; four grandchildren; four stepchildren, Michael Ireton, Danny Ireton, David Ireton and Sharon Logan; and many loving friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Garry Hazen and former wives, Kate and Lynda.
A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at the Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Crystal River. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation to the
