Robert Alexandria "'Sonny'" Knight Jr.(1943-2013)

Robert Alexandria "Sonny" Knight Jr., age, 70, of Floral City, Florida, was born January 29, 1943 in Brooksville, Florida, son of the late Robert Alexandria Knight, Sr. and Rose Mary Rooks-Knight.
Sonny leaves behind the love of his life and wife of 33 years, Roseann Knight of Floral City, his children, Lisa Adkins and husband, Jimmy of Chiefland, Richard Luman and wife, Nikki of Floral City and Robert "Alex"andria Knight III and wife, Juanita of Inverness. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Kyle Lanier, Kristen Lanier, Kayla Lanier, Robert Alexandria Knight IV, Ellis Luman, and Blossom.
Sonny served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee from February 1966 - February 1968. He served two full tours of duty and received the following medals and commendations: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, Navy Commendation Medal with Combat (V), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Fleet Marine Combat Operation Insignia.
Sonny's greatest joy in life was his family. He was a good father to his children and loved his grandchildren most of all. He was proud of each one. He shared his love of the outdoors and animals with them. He was a member of Local 925 International Union of Operating Engineers and the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations for 50 years.
A Celebration of Life for Sonny will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 31, 2013, at the Hills of Rest Cemetery in Floral City, under the direction of the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes. Sonny's family members will be there to greet friends beginning at 9:30 am. The family will receive guests following the service at Floral City Baptist Church located on Magnolia Street in Floral City.
