A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Alice P. Ortolf, age 89, of Hernando, Florida, formerly of Mountainside, NJ, will be held 3:00 PM, Sunday, October 6, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church of Inverness with Associate Pastor Denise Lay officiating. Mrs. Ortolf was born January 1, 1924 in Hopewell, NJ, daughter of the late Thomas and Ruth (Riley) Platt. She died September 30, 2013 in Hernando, FL in the loving arms of her family, surrounded by her books and all the things she loved. She attended Glassboro State Teachers College, now Rowan University. She moved to Hernando, Florida from Mountainside, NJ in 1994. She was a lifetime elementary school teacher and was named Teacher of the Year for the Mountainside School District in 1991. She was an extensive traveler and an avid reader. Mrs. Ortolf was a member of the CMH Auxiliary for 16 years, past member of the P.E.O., Noble Ladies of Citrus Shrine Club, Inverness, the Red Hat Society, the Citrus Hills Women's Club and First Presbyterian Church of Inverness.
Mrs. Ortolf was preceded in death by her parents and brother, David Platt. Survivors include her husband, Dr. F. William Ortolf of Hernando, FL, daughter and son-in-law, Ruth Ellen and Kerry Edwards of Hernando, FL, sister-in-law, Patricia Platt, numerous nieces and nephews and her adored, Kaiden.
