Allen William Richards, 67, Floral City, died at home August 14, 2014. Allen was born on June 7, 1947, in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Elden and Doris (McKay) Richards and came to this area in 1985 from Wakefield, New Hampshire. Allen graduated from Spaulding High School in Rochester, New Hampshire, class of 1966 and earned an Associates Degree from Concord Technical School. He joined the U.S. Navy and was assigned to serve on the USS Springfield CLG-7 with the rank of ETN3. After moving to Florida, he owned and operated Lee's Coffee Shop in Floral City with his wife Sherrie for 20 years. He later was employed by Walmart and Sav-A-Lot stores. He was a member and past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Citrus Aerie # 3992, currently serving as Conductor and District 5 Trustee. He also was a Charter Member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 2506.|
Survivors include his wife, Sherrie; three sons, Josiah Richards of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, Allen "Willie" Richards Jr. of Portland, Oregon, Jeremy Ealy, Homosassa; two daughters, Jennifer (Jeff) Stewart, Raleigh, North Carolina, Tiffany Richards, Inverness; two brothers, Doug (Peggy) Richards, Sanbornville, New Hampshire, Donald (Pat) Richards, St. Augustine; his sister, Carol Kachoris, Sanbornville, New Hampshire; two grandchildren, Keith Eugene Miller and Kayden James Stewart; five nephews, Mark Kachoris, Sean Richards, Keith Richards, Lisle Richards, and Benjamin Richards; five nieces, Caren Kachoris, Robin Nason, Jill Richards, Chris Turgeon, and Jennie K. Richards. He was predeceased by his brother, Bruce Richards.
Allen's life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 25, 2014, at Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with the state officers of the Fraternal Order of Eagles officiating. Military honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home on Monday. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made in Allen's name to: F.O.E. Citrus Aerie #3992, PO Box 1047, Inverness, FL 34451. Friends and family are invited to attend a reception at the Citrus Eagles No. 3992 following their return from Florida National Cemetery.
