Esther K. Hughart

1919 - 2013

Esther K. Hughart, 94, Inverness, Fla., died May 5, 2013, at Arbor Trail Rehab and Nursing Center. Esther was born April 20, 1919, in Jefferson County, Ky., to the late John and Mary Krages.
Growing up in Louisville, she was active in the local 4-H Club where she learned to quilt and crochet, earning many award ribbons. While living in Maryland, she worked for the University of Maryland and the telephone company. She was a life member of American Legion Post 217 in College Park. After retirement she moved to Inverness and became an active member of the local Civilian Conservation Corps chapter, serving as secretary and president. Later, she became active in Hospice. Esther made many beautiful crochet pieces and taught crochet classes for over 30 years. She attended First Presbyterian Church of Inverness.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Russell Walker and wife Darlene, New Smyrna Beach; daughters, Mary Annis Witt and husband Marvin, Jacksonville, Texas and Wanda Calderwood and husband Tim, Crofton, Md.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Hughart in 1998.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Craig Davies officiating. Burial will follow at 10 a.m. Monday morning in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Ocala. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 2 p.m., until the hour of service.
