Franklin (Frankie) Cathels of Beverly Hills passed away Monday, August 4, 2014. A native of Miami, Florida, he was born March 4, 1933 to Donald and Clara (Stracke) Cathels and was one of five children.
Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Frank was a devoted Catholic and was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Beverly Hills. He retired from BellSouth after 44 years. He loved the Miami Hurricane football team. Frank was an avid golfer, gardener and loved to travel.
Frank is survived by his wife, Gloria (Sherman) Cathels of 58 years; and a brother Eddie Cathels of Miami. Frank and Gloria have three children, Judy Cathels Huff (Leslie L. Huff) of Atlanta, Georgia , Terri Cathels Green of Miami and Steve D. Cathels (Mary Meisenholder Cathels) of Jacksonville; as well as seven grandchildren, Ryan Joyce and Kyle Joyce(Judy), Travis Cathels and Ashley Cathels(Steve), Sarah Green, Emily Green, and TR Green(Terri); and two great grandchildren.
The Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Beverly Hills, at 9 a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2014. A luncheon will follow at Tuscany on the Meadows, Quality Inn Conference Center in Hernando. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast.
