The Service of Remembrance for Mr. Richard E. Cronk Sr., age 83, of Inverness, Fla., will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes & Crematory with the Rev. Sarah Campbell officiating. Masonic Rites will be accorded at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. He was born July 7, 1930, in Jamaica, N.Y., and was the son of the late Edward and Harriet (Berg) Cronk. He died Dec. 13, 2013, in Inverness. Mr. Cronk was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during Korea. He retired as a lieutenant in Suffolk County Police Department, Suffolk County, N.Y. He moved to Inverness, Fla., from Babylon, L.I., N.Y., in 1990. Mr. Cronk was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Inverness; Babylon Masonic Lodge No. 0793, F & A.M., Babylon, N.Y.; and Long Island Scottish Rite Bodies. He was also a member of the Retired Police Association for the State of New York, was past president of the Suffolk Superior Officers Association on Long Island, N.Y., and a member of the International Association of Police Chiefs. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed both fresh- and saltwater fishing.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Cronk was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly Cronk. Survivors include his wife, Marguerite Cronk of Inverness, Fla.; four sons, Richard Cronk Jr. of Montgomery, N.Y., Wayne Cronk of Ronkomkoma, N.Y., Scott Cronk of Webster, N.Y., and Brian Cronk of Ridgewood, N.J.; a brother, Robert Cronk of Downsville, N.Y.; a stepson, Richard O'Neill of Arizona; nine grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
