Robert Elmer Barton, 63, of Homosassa, Fla., born Jan. 28, 1949, to Robert E. and Mary Estelle (Travis) Barton Sr., went to be with the Lord and to sing with the angels up above in Heaven on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at his home under the care of his wife and HPH Hospice.
He was the former manager of Turtle Creek RV Resort in Homosassa. He loved to fish, play pool and most of all he loved to sing. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shelby Oglesby; and a nephew, Harold Hurt. He is survived by his loving wife, Rita, of Homosassa; brothers, William Barton of Peoria, Ill., and Michael Barton (Jackie) of Spring Hill; sisters, Mary Ellen Pescitelli of Toluca, Ill., and Jane Flinn of Washington, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at the Turtle Creek RV Resort in Homosassa. Private cremation arrangements are under the care of Strickland Funeral Home with Crematory Crystal River.
