The Service of Remembrance for Mr. Robert J. Carroll, age 92, of Oveido, Florida, formerly of Inverness, will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes with Citrus Masonic Lodge #118 F&AM and Elks Lodge #2522 officiating. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of memorial donations to Hospice of the Comforter, 605 Montgomery Road, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714. Mr. Carroll was born January 15, 1921 in Newark, NJ, son of the late Joseph and Helen (Nicholas) Carroll. He died January 30, 2013 in Altamonte Springs, FL. Mr. Carroll attended Oshkosh Teacher College, WI and Union Junior College, NJ. He was an Army Air Force veteran serving during World War II. He worked as a commercial pilot for Air Carriers, Inc. and Warbellow, Alaska and retired from AT&T. He moved to Florida from Alaska 1981. He enjoyed playing the organ and restoring Volkswagens. Mr. Carroll was a member of the Order of Walrus, Tok, Alaska, Eagles # 1037, Moose Lodge # 1392 and 40/8 # 1159, Airman's Association, Alaska; was the Director of Warren Lions, New Jersey; Past Exalted Ruler of Inverness Elks Lodge # 2522, American Legion Post # 1, China, 32nd° Mason and Past Worshipful Master of Citrus Masonic Lodge # 118 F&AM, Inverness, O.E.S. # 164, Floral City, Scottish Rite, Ocala, Egypt Temple, Tampa, Citrus Shrine Club, Inverness; and Trustee of Citrus Sheriff's Neighborhood Watch and Crimewatch.
Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Littman and 2 sisters, Jane Walter and Katherine Mcawany. Survivors include wife, Louise Marie Carroll, daughter, Lynn Marie Carroll and 8 grandchildren.
