Sebastian "Serb" D'Auria, 71, of Citrus Springs, Florida, died on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Florida. He was born on Saturday, May 8, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, to Sebastian and Nancy (Raffaele) D'Auria. Sebastian graduated from Eli Whitney Technical High School in Brooklyn, New York, and then attended the City College of New York. He retired in 1987 from the New York City Transit Authority as a train mechanic in Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York. Sebastian lived in Eltingville, Staten Island, New York, then moved to Hilton Head, South Carolina, in 1994 and in 2006 to Citrus Springs, Florida. He was a member of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church in Citrus Springs, Florida, cooked at both the Elks Club and the Knights of Columbus and volunteered for the Citrus County Surveillance Unit. Sebastian was an animal lover and would adopt pets, take in injured pets and nurse them to health, as well as foster pets in his home. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing and was a junior master in bridge.|
Sebastian was preceded in death by his parents; brother George D'Auria; and sister Gina Durando.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years Carol A. (Reini) D'Auria; sons Ronan D'Auria and wife Lissa and Raymond D'Auria and wife Maria; daughters Michelle D'Auria, Melissa Forcellati and husband Dominic and Melanie Connors; sister Theresa Ustick and husband Timothy; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, with a chapel service at 4 p.m. at Fero Funeral Home, 5955 N. Lecanto Highway, Beverly Hills, FL 34465.
