Sidney L. Hatten, 75, Floral City, died at home March 18, 2013, under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus Co. Mr. Hatten was born Oct. 14, 1937, in Sumrall, Miss., to the late J.D. and Lavada Hatten. He came to his area in 1975 following his retirement from the U.S. Air Force where he served over 20 years, retiring as a master sergeant. Following his retirement, he worked as a superintendent for several local golf courses including Inverness Golf and Country Club. Sid was very active in the V.F.W., having founded the Floral City Post 7122 where he served as past commander. He also was past commander of VFW Post 4337, past District 7 commander, District 7 quartermaster, and state inspector.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Hatten, Floral City; three sons, Jay Hatten of South Carolina, Sidney Hatten Jr., Lutz, Adam McCann, Floral City; two daughters, Catherine Parker of Atlanta, Ga., Valerie Fimple, Albuquerque, N.M.; one sister, Genice Spetz, Yorbalinda, Calif.; nine grandchlldren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside military honors will be offered at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, from Florida National Cemetery with VFW Post 7122 in charge. Friends may call at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home Friday morning from 10 a.m., until the procession departs for the cemetery at 12:45 p.m.
