Sydney Norman Anderson, 96, of Inverness, Florida, passed away July 11, 2014, at Avante of Inverness. He was born Nov. 13, 1917, in Jamestown, New York, to the late David G. and Lillian (Greenwood) Anderson. Sydney served his country honorably in the National Guard, the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army, and was the owner of Anderson Cleaners and Jamestown Armored Car. He arrived in this area in 1980, coming from Jamestown, and attended the First Presbyterian Church in Inverness. Sydney loved golfing, yard sales and traveling, but was most proud of winning first place in the St. Petersburg Times Investment Stock Challenge.

Survivors include his loving companion of 23 years, Beth Kaler; children Jeffrey D. (Diane) Anderson and Neil A. (Mariela) Anderson of Denver, Colorado, and Linda A. (Peter) Dawson of Lakewood, New York; sister Donna Smith; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gretchen L. Anderson, in 1990; and siblings Burton and Delores Anderson.
A celebration of life memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of Citrus County, P.O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464.
