The Service of Remembrance for Mr. William Howard Barton, Sr., age 100, of Lake Como, Florida, will be held 1:00 pm, Friday, May 2, 2014 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Mr. Barton was born February 9, 1914 in Jersey City, NJ, son of William Fetzer and Isabel Barton. He died March 28, 2014 in Crescent City, FL. Mr. Barton was a Coast Guard veteran serving during World War II. He worked as a sales manager with Prudential Insurance Company for 25 years and then with Continental Assurance for 25 years before retiring in 1981 and moving to Florida from West Hempstead, LI, NY in 1982. Mr. Barton was a member of the Sugarmill Woods Men's Golf Club and the Homosassa First United Methodist Church, where he was active with the church council, new member cultivation and Treasurer of the Men's Club. He was the former President of Life Supervisors Association of New York and Life Underwriters Association.
Mr. Barton was preceded in death by his wife Constance Barton. Survivors include his son, William H. Barton Jr. of Bronxville, NY, his daughter, Muriel B. Kuhn of Lake Como, FL, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren.
