Alan Hunstein Obituary
Alan Hunstein, 60, of Citrus Springs, FL, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL.
A native of East Meadow, L.I., N.Y., he was born June 18, 1955 to Theodore and Nora (Parr) Hunstein. Alan was the former co-owner and manager of Dependable Knitwear of Richmond Hill, Queens, NY, where he worked for over 20 years. Mr. Hunstein moved to Citrus County just after the No Name Storm in early 1993 and became the owner of Crystal Center Laundromat in Crystal River, FL. Family and friends were extremely important to Alan, and it was known that he never met a stranger. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, boating and fishing. He loved spending time and caring for his grandchildren. Alan also enjoyed traveling (he especially liked Key West). He loved family get togethers and also enjoyed gardening. Mr. Hunstein was a talented and skilled handyman and enjoyed fixing things around his home and helping others. Alan was also a certified scuba diver.
He is survived by his loving wife Altagracia "Jenny" Hunstein of Citrus Springs, with whom he shared 40 years; daughter Denise Hunstein (husband Joshua Dumas), Winter Springs, FL; son Richie Hunstein (wife Stephanie), Spring Hill, FL; son Eddie Hunstein, Crystal River, FL; sisters Diane Mason (husband Eddie), Crystal River, FL and Terry Rodriguez (husband Roberto), Orlando, FL and brother Steven Hunstein; grandchildren Trevor Alan and Kevin Joseph Hunstein, both of Belleview, FL; Liam Edward Hunstein, Spring Hill, FL and a grandson on the way, Aiden Alan Dumas, due Oct. 9, 2016. Alan was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church.
A Celebration of Life will be at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Crystal River, FL. On May 21, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. A special request from Alan was that everyone consider becoming an organ donor. www.wilderfuneral.com.
