Anita Shontz Obituary
Whether you called her "mum," "neat," or "Anita," one thing was for sure - you could call on her for anything ... and she would be there.
Anita Shontz peacefully passed away the evening of December 11, 2015, at her home, in the mini farms of Dunnellon Florida, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Anita was an adoring and dedicated wife to her equally faithful and attentive husband, Cary Shontz. Together, they shared a 30-year love story that was admired by everyone who knew them. She was also a proud mother of two sons, Jason and Eric Theis, two daughters, Michelle Blauvelt and Monique Lamont, and grandmother to five great and special grandkids; Kandace, Jayse, Zoe, Keeley, and Jasper.
And there was no shortage of friends in her life - when Anita and Cary moved to the Mini Farms 13 years ago, they created a new family of close friends and neighbors. Being surrounded by these great people provided her with a sense of youthful adventure and secured her with a true sense of belonging. Anita was also a tremendously compassionate caretaker to their many different animals and her love for them was only second to that of her family and friends.
And if there is one thing that rings true to all who knew her - it was her ability to provide comfort and security to anyone who needed it. She was a rock to many of us ... and gave us that little extra something that just made you feel good. We all love you and miss you - and will do our best to continue carrying on where you left off ....
The Shontz Family will be hosting a celebration of Anita's life on January 9th at their private residence. Please email Anita's son, Eric, at [email protected] for more details.
Arrangements are under the direction of Strickland Funeral Home and Crematory, Crystal River.
