Anton Leins Jr. Obituary
Mr. Anton Leins Jr., of Inverness, Florida, died Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Citrus Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center, Hernando, FL. Tony's journey of 91 years began in New York City, born March 11th, 1926 to proud parents Anton Leins Sr. and Frieda Papenfuss. Despite the difficult economic times, his family prospered. He grew up with a life long appreciation of the city. After graduation Morris High School in 1944, Tony enlisted in the U.S. Navy (Seaman First Class) and served his country during WWII in the American and Asiatic Pacific Theaters. Upon discharge, he pursued a career in Orthopedic Prosthetics at the V.A. Testing and Development Laboratory and NY University College of Engineering. Tony was married in December 1951 to Juliana Wilhelmina Bopp and a new chapter began, their devoted union of 63 years. Their careers took them to Rochester, New York in 1957 where they raised their girls and together built a beautiful country home in Pittsford. Tony spent many summer days loading hay wagons and helping on his Aunt's and Uncle's dairy farms. After working at Bausch & Lomb for 24 years, Tony retired on his 65th birthday. Retirement took him and Wilma to be with family in Inverness, FL. They made many friends and truly embraced their years in Florida, enjoying travel, palm trees, sunshine and long walks.
Mr. Leins was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Wilma Leins. Survivors include 2 daughters, Audrey Paliotti and Diane Leins and cousins, Eddy and Elfie Mess of Canada.
A Graveside Service will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery at a later date. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.HooperFuneralHome.com. Arrangements by the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes & Crematory.
