Arlene Turner Obituary
Arlene M. Turner, Formerly of North Lauderdale and Beverly Hills Florida, died Wednesday August 16th, 2017 at Diamond Ridge Health and Rehab. She was 74. Ms. Turner was born in Stockdale, Pennsylvania on September 15th 1942 to James and Margie Olesevsky (Kies).
Ms. Turner grew up in Stockdale, PA. then relocated to Detroit, Michigan where she married and had two sons. Eventually she and her sons moved to Honolulu, Hawaii for a number of years before settling down in Southern Florida. There she attended Broward Community College while working as a waitress to support her two sons. She graduated as a Registered Nurse and went to work at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami Florida as a Trauma Nurse in the newly formed Trauma Unit.
Ms. Turner moved to the Crystal River area in 1994 and worked at Monroe Regional Hospital in Ocala until her retirement in 2000.
Ms. Turner was a loving and caring mother, grandmother (B-Ma), great grandmother, friend and nurse who was exceedingly generous to all. Many describe her as the strongest woman they have ever met, having touched many lives and often served as a role model to others without even realizing it. She lived her life treating others as she wished to be treated; always giving to charities, a place at her dinner table for those who were hungry, and a home to celebrate holidays at (with a present waiting for them under the tree) for those who had no family of their own. She was a courageous woman who raised her sons by example and never backed down from a challenge!
Left to carry on her memory are her brother Ray Olesevsky of Waynesville, OH. (Toni Olesevsky), sons, Darren R. Turner of Loveland Co. (Lisa Turner) and Kinnon Scott Turner of Beverly Hills, Fl., Grandchildren D.J. Turner of Laramie, Wy. (Sarah Beth Turner), Brianna Turner of Loveland, Co., Debora Norani of Orlando, Fl., and a great granddaughter Brynley Paige Turner of Laramie, Wy. and her BFF Lynn Moore.
Per her request, there will be no funeral services. However there will be a celebration of life for her birthday next month on September 9th, 2017 at 1 pm for all those who knew and loved her. We will gather at Ozello Island Church located at 14131 W. Ozello Trail, Crystal River, Fl. 34429 for a brief service before heading down the street to her BFF's house for food, fellowship and music (the way Arlene loved to celebrate holidays!)
In lieu of flowers or contributions, follow Arlene's example and treat others with love and respect.
Arrangements are under the direction of Strickland Funeral Home and Crematory, Crystal River.
