Beth Johns Obituary
Beth Nordling Olsen Johns, age 55, passed away on the night of Monday, September 26, 2016 in her home in Crystal River, FL after a difficult battle with cancer. She was born on March 8, 1961 in Framingham, MA, grew up in Sudbury, MA and was the youngest of Stanley Olsen and Elizabeth (MacVicar) Olsen's three children. She married Ronald Steven (Stevie) Johns on April 20, 1985 and is survived by her parents, husband, daughter Christine Johns and brothers Bruce and Jon Olsen. She is also survived by her treasured nieces and nephews, Michaela, Jon, Molly, Richard, and Annie Olsen, as well as her beloved step-children Michael Johns and Ashley Rainwater, and step-grandchildren Carter and Tony Nichols and Aniah and Aliviah Rainwater.
Beth moved to Citrus County in 1984 from New Hampshire but returned every summer to vacation at Lake Winnipesaukee to enjoy the mountainous views with family. She enjoyed photography, baking, knitting, and public speaking. A pinnacle of leadership in the community, she selflessly dedicated her loving heart to many organizations and endeavors through her position as CEO of Performance Marketing, Inc. and Choir and Handbell Soloist of the First United Methodist Church of Homosassa. Many people also experienced her joyful, welcoming nature in her former roles as Jazzercize instructor, President of the Homosassa Rotary Club, and as an avid volunteer.
A paragon of virtue and hard work, she earned her BS in Computer Science from the University of New Hampshire in 1983 and completed her MBA in Marketing from Northeastern University in 2011, and she continuously dedicated herself to supporting local businesses and the Citrus County community. She loved spending time with her family, volunteering to help those in need, and exploring family history through genealogy. She will always be remembered for giving back to the community and ringing handbells at churches and locations throughout Citrus County.
Friends will be received on Friday, Sept. 30, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, FL. Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Homosassa with Pastor Kip Younger officiating. Private entombment will immediately follow at Fountains Memorial Park, Homosassa. Memorial contributions are requested by Beth's family to Sarcoma Foundation of America. www.curesarcoma.org/donate.
