Mr. Brett Matthew Hauslaib, age 68, of Homosassa, Florida, died December 2, 2016 in Brooksville, FL. He was born August 27, 1948 in Bridgeport, CT, son of the late George and Jeanne (Bergen) Hauslaib. Survivors include wife, Florence Tattersall Hauslaib of Homosassa, FL, son, Scott (Danielle) Hauslaib of Simsbury, CT, daughter, Megan (Walter Want) Hauslaib of New Hartford, CT, brother, Mark (Marla) Hauslaib, brother, Jonathan (Kathleen) Hauslaib, brother, Seth (Arthur Bernabucci) Hauslaib, sister, Kristin (Anthony Pratt) Hauslaib, sister, Maryellen (Erica Rohrbach) Hauslaib, along with many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hauslaib retired as a Police officer from the Westport CT Police Department. He moved to Homosassa 9 years ago. He was a United States Army veteran serving in the 980th Military Police Company. A graduate of the University of New Haven in West Haven, CT he had served as a Corporate Director for the Taubman Company. Mr. Hauslaib was a member of the West Citrus Elks Lodge #2693 in Homosassa. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop #64 and had served as an Altar boy at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Trumbull, CT.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 11:00 a. m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Homosassa, FL with Father Ronald Marecki, Celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 2:00 p. m. at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 from 4:00 until 6:00 p. m. at the Homosassa Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes & Crematory.
