Carolyn Breaux Obituary
Carolyn Shields Breaux, 89, Hernando, Passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2016, under the care of her family and Hospice of Citrus County, Hospice House, Lecanto.
Carolyn was born in Deland, FL on September 24, 1927 to the late Frank W. and Mattie Mae (Rhodes) Shields. She was preceded in death by her sister Marjorie Shields-Gill Maivez, and her husband or 62 years, Preston L. Breaux. She grew up in Deland, FL and spent many years in Tampa prior to moving to Citrus County in 1972 to follow her husband's career with Florida Power.
Carolyn enjoyed traveling the world with Preston and experiencing the cultures and people of many countries. At 82, she took her last trip around the world. She loved to spend time with her family, especially on their annual summer vacations in Sanibel Island where she enjoyed watching the storms roll in from the Gulf and the sunsets along the causeway. Carolyn was an avid reader. She also enjoyed playing Bingo. Good memories were made when she spent time with friends watching musicals and plays. She also enjoyed the fall arts and crafts festivals and examining all the wares for sale.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Frank Pifer, Hernando, FL; her sister, Louise Clarke, Tampa, FL; her sister- in-laws, Angela Conrad, Deland, FL and Marguerite Bryan, Benson, AR; six nephews and cousins. Carolyn will be sorely missed by her companions Suzee and Maddee.
Private cremation is under the direction of Brown Funeral Home and Crematory, Lecanto, FL. Memorial service for Carolyn will be held on Thursday, 2:00 p.m., October 13, 2016 at Brown Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor David Rawls officiating. Private services will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Citrus County Hospice of the Nature Coast (Hospice House), Lecanto, FL in memory of Carolyn.
