Carolyn May Dehnel, 88, Inverness, went to be with her Lord on May 19, 2012, under the loving care of her family and the staff of Citrus Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Carolyn was born on March 31, 1924, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., to the late Wilson and Thera (Wouters) Marshall, and relocated to this area from Clearwater in 1988. She had a true servant's heart, was a lover of people, and served as a volunteer in many capacities, especially in the Child Advocacy Program for Citrus County. She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and her church friends at Redeemer Presbyterian Church. She was a former member of the Seven Rivers Presbyterian Church and also a member of the Genealogy Society.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Dean D. Dehnel, Inverness; three sons, David (Barbara) Dehnel, Raleigh, N.C., Dirk (Sharon) Dehnel, Palm Harbor, FL, and Donald (Margine) Dehnel, Huntsville, AL; her daughter, Denise Dehnel, Ocala, FL; her brother, Wilson (Marion) Marshall Jr., of Silver Springs, Md.; sister, Joan (Robert) Crandell, Scotia, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 24, at 11 a.m., at the Redeemer Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ryan Jeffes officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in Florida National Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Citrus Health & Rehabilitation Center for the loving care shown to Carolyn.
