Chester Lawrence Spencer Jr. Obituary
Chester Lawrence Spencer, Jr., 84, of Homosassa, FL departed from his family and friends suddenly and unexpectedly to be with the Lord on March 26, 2017. He was born to Chet and Viola Spencer in the town of Lanesboro, Mass on January 23, 1933. Chuck attended various schools and churches in Massachusetts, Virginia and Florida. He was an Operating Engineer where he received awards. He was always busy doing something - remodeling houses, creating new things, and working on lawn mowers. "People" were his love. He was very outgoing and would assist anyone. Chuck did all the man things, hunting, fishing, car racing and horse racing as well as skiing. Music, especially "Blue Grass", was his favorite along with round and square dancing. Camping with the "Citrus County Sams" was a joy. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, and Eagles Lodge. Reaching the age of 84 - one has many experiences that are too numerous to mention here. But Chuck had a full and pleasant life.
Chuck was preceded in death by his sons, Danny, Michael, and Larry; stepsons, Dennis, Bill, & Rocky; sister, Delores and brother, Jimmy. He is survived by his Fiancé of 16 ½ years Barbara Ericksen Whitford; children, John, Debbie, David, and Kenny; step-daughter, Patty (Donald Thomas) Burke of Pittsfield, Mass. and Cheryl (Art) Bolton of FL; sisters, Janet (Tony) Blasioli of Pittsfield, Mass. and Judy Parks of FL; grandson, Travis Spencer of FL; Step-granddaughter, Missy (Dan) Guzzo of Pittsfield, Mass., as well as his beloved dog Penny.
Family will receive friends from 2 PM until service time at 3 PM Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Brown Funeral Home & Crematory in Lecanto, FL. There will be a service at the Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Mass. with burial in Dalton at a later date.
