The man. The myth. The Legend. Dan Ray Shultz Sr. passed on May 30, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was welcomed into God's house by his late parents Dan and Gail (Barry) Strother, and grandchild Caddie Lynn Shultz. Dan was born on June 12, 1960 in Birmingham, AL.
He was an exceptional husband, father grandfather, brother, son and friend. Some of the many things that Dan loved to do included the following: rehabilitating squirrels, riding motorcycles, spending time with his high school sweetheart, fixing anything and everything, camping, and telling stories. Dan was a master craftsman and a jack-of-all-trades. He was renowned for never holding back his opinion, his lack of patience for stupidity and had a knack for telling it like it is. According to his family you always knew where you stood with him, he always told you the truth even if it was not what you wanted to hear and he never sugar coated anything.
With that said, Dan was also generous to a fault and a lion at heart. At the time of his passing Dan donated his organs so that others could live, thus giving the gift of life. When Dan took off for the party in the sky, he left behind his wife of 28 years, Deborah Jane Shultz, son Dan Ray (Nikki Copeland) Shultz II, daughter Lisa (Eric Vega) Shultz all of Inverness, FL., sister, Danette Raye Kentel of Worcester, MA, grandson, Maverick Ray Vega and his beloved pets.
His family will never forget Dan's charm, quick wit, twisted sense of humor and his undying love for them, his pets and his friends. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
A Celebration of Dan's life will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2016 between 1:00PM - 5:00PM at The Cove Pub and Grub, Inverness, FL and all are invited. See Ya!
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Hooper Funeral & Crematory. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hooperfuneralhome.com.
