David Barton Jude Obituary
David Barton Jude, 79 of Floral City, passed away, Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, FL.
David was born in Port Washington, Long Island, NY on April 5, 1936 to William T. Jude and Julia Gaulton Jude. Soon after his birth, his mother became ill and passed away. His Aunt Carrie (Julia's sister) stepped in to help raise him. When David was in his teens, he moved to Indian Lake, NY. He graduated from Indian Lake Central School in 1955.
When David was 21, he proudly joined the Marine Corps and served 6 years. He was a plumber by trade, but if anything else needed to be done, he got it done.
In 1989, David, his wife Lucy and their 4 boys moved down to Florida. He was one of the original founders of the Marine Corps League Detachment 708 in Brooksville, FL. One of his many talents was playing the trumpet. He would volunteer his free time to play Taps at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. He played over 1,000 services.
Dave lived life to the fullest. He loved his family, friends, riding in his john boat, tinkering in his shop and driving his little red pickup truck.
He is survived by his beloved wife Lucy, his brother Eric, his daughters Linda, Deborah and Andrea, his sons Thomas, Eric, Kevin and Brian, 13 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
"He was a friend to those who had no friends." he Service of Remembrance for David will be held 10:30 am, Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. There will be a reception to follow at the Marine Corps League Detachment 708 in Brooksville, FL. Flowers can be sent to Hooper Funeral Home in Inverness, FL or donations can be made to the Marine Corps League Detachment 708.
