David Vernon Trumbauer, 75, of Homosassa, Florida, died December 10, 2015, at the Hospice House of Citrus and the Nature Coast in Lecanto, Florida. David was born January 12, 1940 at the family home in Jesup, Iowa, son of Vernon L. and Elsa M. (Christy) Trumbauer. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Jesup and graduated from Jesup High School in 1958. He was united in marriage to Diane Alcorn on June 16, 1962 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo, Iowa. David served in the Iowa National Guard.
Upon graduation from high school Dave started working as a draftsman at the John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works. When he retired after more than 30 years of service he was proud of the many positions he held within this company including engineer and product development. After retirement from John Deere Dave supported and assisted his wife Diane in building a successful doll repair and restoration business which they operated from their home in Homosassa where they located in 1994.
David was dedicated to the service of others. During his lifetime he volunteered his time and supported a number of non-profit organizations including; the Waterloo Playhouse, the Denver Lions Club, the Denver City Council, American Foundrymen's Society, United Way, Citrus Sertoma, and Sertoma International.
David was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod including membership at St. John's Lutheran Church, Denver, Iowa, Faith Lutheran, Lecanto, Florida, and Forest Oaks Lutheran, Spring Hill, Florida. While he served in many roles over the years in these congregations he was happiest supporting and working with the sound system and technical equipment needed during the Sunday worship services.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Diane of Homosassa, daughter Brenda (W Scott) Dryer of Jewell, Iowa, son Mark of Palm City, Florida, three grandchildren William Michael, Katharine Elsa, and Matthew David Dryer, all of Jewell, Iowa, and a sister Karen (Don) Finley of Independence, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Mary Jane Trumbauer.
Services will be held on Tuesday, December 29th at 11:00 am at Forest Oaks Lutheran Church in Spring Hill, Florida with burial at the church's memorial garden. The family has requested no flowers. Memorials will be directed to Forest Oaks Lutheran Church, Spring Hill, for sound system/technical equipment.
