Donald Frederick Kosling Obituary
Donald Frederick Kosling, ADCS, USN, Ret., 81, of Homosassa, FL, died at his home on New Year's Eve with his wife Olivia at his side. He was born on April 9. 1934 in Brooklyn, New York, to Paul and Florence (Freese) Kosling and lived many places during his lifetime.
Don joined the U.S. Navy in 1955 and served proudly for 25 years, earning the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer before retiring. Don worked in the private sector for many years after his military service and was a parishioner of St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church of Homosassa and was a 4th Degree Knight and charter member of Knights of Columbus St. Thomas Council 15154.
He also served St. Thomas as Extraordinary Minister and also was a member of West Citrus Elks Lodge #2693, Homosassa. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by first wife Rose Marie Kosling. Don is survived by his wife of 6 years, Olivia Kosling and was the proud father of 5 children who were married and gave him 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Always the gentleman (you know ... the old-fashioned type), he was a man of gentleness, intelligence, humility and patience and had a wicked sense of humor. His love was unconditional. He had a ready smile for everyone and will be greatly missed.
