Donald Paul Gatz, 87, of Land-O-Lakes, FL, previously of Hernando, FL, passed away June 2, 2017 at Brighton Gardens of Tampa. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on September 11, 1929 to the late Joseph N. and Dolores E. (Yellig) Gatz. Don was an Insurance Sales Manager for Fireman's Fund Insurance, and arrived in Safety Harbor, Florida in 1976 from Greensboro, NC. He attended Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Beverly Hills, FL. and was a devoted Catholic. Don was an Eagle Scout, a U.S. Army veteran and held memberships in the Benevolent Order of the Elks # 2522, Inverness, FL, American Legion Post # 0077, VFW Post 4252 in Hernando, FL, The Citrus Hills Men's Golf Association, the Knight's of Columbus of Erie, PA. , and the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Pittsburgh and Erie PA. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, reading, and was a baseball and basketball coach. He is survived by his loving wife, Deniece Gatz. He is preceded in death by his first wife Mary Elizabeth and also survived by their five children Donald J. Gatz and his wife Connie of Herndon, VA, Debra M. Gatz of Tampa, FL, Deedee Gatz of Tampa, FL, Denise A. Robinson and her husband Carroll of Philadelphia, PA, and Dave Gatz and his wife Ileana of Land-O-Lakes, FL. Don has 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Beverly Hills. Burial will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. following the mass. The family will be receiving friends in visitation on Thursday, 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. and from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness. FL. After the burial, there will be a reception at the Citrus Hills Golf Club in Inverness.
