Dorothy Jean Cole Obituary
The Service of Remembrance for Miss Dorothy Jean Cole, age 73, of Lecanto, Florida, will be held 10:30 AM, Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes with Mr. Cabot McBride officiating. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Monday at the Inverness Chapel. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of memorial donations to Key Training Center, Lecanto, FL www.keytrainingcenter.org. Dorothy passed away September 28th in Crystal River, Florida. She was born January 3, 1943 in Toledo, Ohio. She grew up in Ohio and moved to Satellite Beach, Florida with her parents, James and Dolores Cole, and her brothers Chester V. Cole, and David Cole in 1961. In 1980, Dorothy and her parents moved to Citrus County and by 1981 Dorothy had enrolled in the Key Training Center's Adult Day Training Program where she loved helping and working with her co-workers. In 1983, Dorothy became a resident of Spooner Cottage on the Key Training Center campus and later (2003) moved to Contento Cottage where she resided the rest of her life. Dorothy enjoyed he large collection of dolls, many of which her mother made. She loved all of her friends and was proud to be a part of the Key Center's Run for the Money, where each year she participated in the run over the Suwannee River. It was on this run she met her best friend, Phil Royal.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, James and Dolores Cole, her brother David, and her best friend Phil Royal. She is survived by her brother Chester V. Cole and his wife Carol, Sister in Law Linda Cole, nephews Ben Cole and his wife Amy, Schuyler Cole, Chris Cole and his wife Julie and Zachary Cole; great nephews Josh Cole, Anthony Fisher, Ethan Cole, Austin Cole, Levi Cole, and Tyler Cole, and great niece Caydence Cole and many, many friends. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hooper Funeral Homes & Crematory.
