Dorothy Miskovsky Obituary
Dorothy H. "Dottie" Miskovsky, 92, Ocala, a former 44 year resident of Hernando, passed away at the home of her daughter, in Ocala, on Saturday,
April 8. Dorothy was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1924 to the late Michael and Bertha (Koch) Kornberger. The family moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., where she grew up.
At age 20, she took a job as an inspector at Queens Machine Co., in Brooklyn, where they designed and manufactured knitting machines for the textile industry. There, she met "Sid", the Shop Foreman and tool and die maker for the company. They were married in 1945 and made their home in Deer Park, L.I., N.Y. In 1961, they came to Hernando, FL, where they owned and operated the El Rancho Motel, during the 1960's. Later, Dorothy worked at the Inverness Golf And Country Club, as a hostess, for over 20 years. During those years, Dorothy and Sid enjoyed the many wonderful people that they met and the life long friendships that were forged.
Thoughtful, kind and giving, Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who had a ready smile and a soothing, gentle nature that made her a pleasure to be around. She was eager to be included in all family activities. Going to restaurants or finding a place to have a "good hot pretzel", were also things she enjoyed. She taught herself to crochet as a young girl and her hands were always busy, making a gift for someone, "just because". At home she liked a game of Rummy or chinese checkers, solitare, crossword puzzles, watching Wheel of Fortune and listening to Johnny Mathis music. And, oh, how she loved seeing flowers bloom. Most importantly, she loved her family, as we love her.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Linda Breedlove and her husband, Jim, of Ocala; her grandson, Scott Breedlove, Ocala and her great-grandson, Tristan Breedlove, Gainesville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Zdenek "Sid" Miskovsky on December 8, 1986, 3 brothers: Robert, John and Alfred Kornberger, and a sister, Anna Callari.
Private cremation arrangements under the direction of Chas E Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.
