Dorothy Scott Werner of Homosassa FL accepted God's invitation of everlasting life on June 7, 2016 at the age of 98. She was born June 4, 1918 in Leeds, Yorkshire, England, the only child of Harold and Ada Saville; immigrating to the U.S. in 1922 to Rochester NY.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Clifford V. Scott to whom she had been married over 50 years, and her granddaughter, Elizabeth "Teddi" Mervis.
Dorothy primarily worked in her home and took that role seriously, leaving each house better than when the family moved in. She attended Rochester Institute of Technology, Monroe Community College, and was active in Cornell Extension Services.
She had an artist's eye, working in oil, stained glass and flowers. She dearly loved traveling and golf; she was a past member of Ontario CC, Bristol Harbor GC, and Sugermill Woods CC.
She was proud of the roles she played as an officer in her local chapter of the PEO Sisterhood. She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Brighton NY for many years before moving to Florida and joining St. Ann's Episcopal Church in Crystal River.
Mrs. Werner is survived by her husband, William Werner of Homosassa FL, her daughters Sheri (Michael) Bell of Clayton NY and Gulfport FL, Vicki Putney of Syracuse NY, granddaughters Kim (Tim) Roach and Tamara (Ryan) Toomey, grandson Tod (Margie) Mervis, 5 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at the family's convenience in Pittsford NY.
