Doug MacArthur Guth, 90, died Aug. 18, 2015, surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast staff in Lecanto.
Doug was born July 13, 1925, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Charles and Myrtle (McClelland) Guth. He relocated to Inverness in 1996.
Doug was a Navy veteran and proudly served during World War II as a radio operator. He was then employed as a general foreman at Bethlehem Steel. Doug was a member of the Inverness VFW Post No. 4337, the Patapsco Masonic Lodge No. 183 of Dundalk, Maryland, and the Inverness Golf and Country Club. He also attended St. Margaret's Episcopal Church.
Doug was preceded in death by his first wife, Ida V. (Nemsick). He is survived by his second wife, Sue Guth, and three sons, Douglas and wife Kathy, Charles and wife Rosemary and Robert and wife Vickie; stepdaughter Sherry Mazza and husband Michael; stepson Paul Taylor and wife Ginni; and stepson Keith Taylor and wife Sally. Doug is also survived by 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m. at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Inverness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of Citrus County.
