Douglas Shepherd Obituary
Rev. Douglas Evan Shepherd, Jr., 72 of Inverness, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017 at Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center in Crystal River with his loving family at his side. Pastor Shepherd was born in Trenton, Tennessee on August 27, 1944 to the late Douglas E. and Sarah Frances
(Plunkett) Shepherd.
He established the United Pentecostal Church of Inverness over 30 years ago, serving as Pastor. (Presently the Living Waters United Pentecostal Church). Pastor Shepherd served his Country in the Army National Guard. His favorite past times were playing his guitar, singing hymns and listening to gospel music. He loved reading his bible and he never met a stranger. He enjoyed fishing and treasured time spent with his family.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Edna M. (Thurmer) Shepherd; 1 son, Douglas E. Shepherd III, Billings, Montana; 2 daughters: Susan (Lee) Barnhill, Longwood, FL; April (James) Haganey, Inverness; 2 brothers: James W. (Sharon) Shepherd, Pembroke Pines, FL; David (Linda) Shepherd, Oak Ridge, TN; 2 sisters, Sarah Ann (Luis) Albornoz, Hollywood, FL; Jessie Mae (Alfred) Krebs-Gregory, Humbolt,TN; 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles; 2 sisters, Mary Spencer and Wanda Capone; also his grandson, Nathan Shepherd and great granddaughter, Jayden Marie Dyess.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Living Waters United Pentecostal Church of Inverness with Pastors Kevin McGee and James Wolfe, officiating. Burial with military honors, will follow at the Fountains Memorial Park Cemetery in Homosassa. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the hour of service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness.
