E. Norman Cantara Obituary
E. Norman Cantara, 89, of Homosassa, Florida, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2016 at Cypress Cove Care Center in Crystal River, Florida. A native of Newburyport, MA, he was born January 27, 1927 to Ernest L. and Josephine (Bernier) Cantara, one of two children. Norman, as he was known to everyone, was a retired purchasing agent for Crosby Valve and Gauge, Inc. of Wrentham, MA and moved to Homosassa in 1989 from Wellfleet, MA. Mr. Cantara served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy during WWII and loved to travel the world with Jackie, his beloved wife of 66 years. Norman loved owning his own boat when he lived on Cape Cod; was an active and faithful Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and was a member of the American Legion, as well as a parishioner of St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church of Homosassa. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cantara was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Cantara. In addition to his loving wife of 66 years, Jacquelyn "Jackie" Cantara of Homosassa, he is survived by a niece Michelle Cantara (husband Thomas Perry) of Chelmsford, MA and a great nephew, Joseph Cantara. Services and burial are private through Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, FL.
