Edward C. Daniels Jr. age 93, passed away at his home in Inverness, Florida on October 24, 2016 surrounded by his loving family members. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward C. and Freda (Mayers) Daniels.
Edward was born in Tampa, Florida and grew up in various locales around the state. A recipient of the Bronze Star, France Legion of Honour, and Purple Heart with cluster for wounds received in action. He saw combat in the European Theater of Operations while serving with the U.S. Army during World War II from July 1, 1944 to Dec. 7, 1946.
Edward earned a BA at Stetson University and a Juris Doctor degree at University of Miami School of Law. He was a member of the Florida Bar for 50 yrs. He also had a General Contractor License, was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Purple Heart Aaron A. Weaver Chapter 776 of Citrus County, FL.
In 1995 he and his wife relocated to Texas where he was a gentleman farmer and served as a member of the town council in Tool, Texas. In 2012, he and his wife Claudia returned to his native Florida to take up residence in Inverness, Florida.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife Claudia, sons Jim Daniels, and Edward C. Daniels III, daughter Ann Irelan, sister Elizabeth Schultz, brother Warren E. Daniels, stepchildren, Sheila Barron and Sherman Dunn, 17 Grandchildren, 21 great grand-children and 2 great great grandchildren.
Arrangements are by the Neptune Society with a memorial service honoring Edward's life, will be held on November 17, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. A remembrance reception following the service will be held at the VFW Post 10137, 6036 C.R.618 in Bushnell, Florida.
