Edward C. Werner Obituary
Werner, Edward C., 92, of Hernando, Florida, passed away on September 11, 2015.
Edward was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Henry C. Werner of St. Petersburg, Fl.
Edward graduated St. Petersburg High School in 1942 and joined the United States Air Force and in 1944 was promoted to the rank of Air Craft Commander of one of the first B-36 Bombers. He was assigned to the global reconnaissance arm of the Strategic Air Command. Lt. Werner flew a total of 35 combat missions in the European Theater and holds several decorations including the Distinguished Service Cross and the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, WWII Victory Medal, Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal, EAME Service Medal and the OCC Medal. Edward was stationed at Fairfield Suisun Air Force Base, California.
Ed enjoyed the quiet life and enjoyed canoeing, woodworking and was known for most of his life for dismantling items to be recycled.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Florence E. (Nichols) Werner, in 2007 and his daughter Jamine Greene in 2012. Ed is survived by his daughters Dixie Tedeschi of Gainesville, FL and Vicki Edson of Hernando, FL, 2 grandchildren Shawn Greene and his wife Cherie and Jordan Greene, 2 great-grandchildren Kira and Landon.
Funeral Services are under the direction of Fero Funeral Home 5955 N. Lecanto Highway, Beverly Hills.
