Services for Edward F. Hochecker will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 21, 2016, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
He was born October 25, 1933 to Richard Joseph & Rose (Garger) Hochecker in St. Louis, MO. He passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, October 11, 2016.
Edward served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1981. He was a highly decorated soldier serving in Korea and Vietnam. Later he was employed at Pinkerton Investigation Services as a District Manager for 19 years retiring in 1999.
He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara (Hardwig) Hochecker, Feb. 1993, parents, Brother Richard (Margaret) Hochecker and Sister Delores (Robert) Unnerstall.
He is survived by his wife Reba (McCartney) Hochecker of 22 years, and children: Edward J. (Barbara) Hochecker, Katy, TX, Karen (Richard) Bailey, Traverse City, MI, Vicki (Alan) Seddon, Blue Grass, IA, Richard F. Hochecker, Atlanta, GA, Mark A. (Rhonda) Hochecker, Mobile, AL, Sherry (Dennis) Cashion, Fayetteville, NC, and Pamela Johnson, Shinnston, WV. He has 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Robert E. (Judith) Hochecker, O'Fallon, MO, brother-in-law, Robert Unnerstall, Wentzville, MO and a sister-in-law, Judith Markowski, Cahokia, IL.
Edward was a true American soldier and beloved Patriarch of our family, he will be truly missed.
An honor guard service will be performed following the service. He will be interned at a later date at Salisbury National Cemetery, NC. Family and friends are welcome to attend a gathering following the ceremony to be announced.
In honor of Edward Hochecker donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors project.
