Edward Michael Anderson, age 85, of Floral City, FL died at home surrounded by his loving family and while under the care of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast on September 4, 2016. Edward was born at home on May 21, 1931 in Detroit, MI to the late John and Marian (Blair) Anderson. He had 5 sisters and 2 brothers. Edward proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. After his military service, he was employed by General Motors for 25 years as a Production Engineer. He met Joan Alice at a party when they were teenagers and throughout their life together he always told her, "so glad you made it to the party". Edward adored Joan Alice and they had a very special and loving relationship. He and Joan Alice spent almost all of their time together and always held hands. Edward would even hold Joan Alice's hand while they fell asleep each night. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage and could fix almost anything. Edward was a member of the PTA Ways and Means Committee in Warren, MI. He also taught Sunday school for 8 years at the United Methodist Church. Edward was a member of the HOA of Oak Forest Deed Restrictions and the Highway Beautification project for the subdivision. He was a fan of all things Disney and enjoyed taking his family to the Disney theme parks. They were always the first to enter the park and the last ones to leave at night. Edward also enjoyed watching cartoons and was especially a fan of the Simpsons.
In addition to his loving wife Joan Alice, those left to mourn Edward's passing are his son, David Michael Anderson; daughters: Karen Lynne Hirsch and her husband Larry, and Joanie Michelle Lewis; 6 grandchildren: Amanda Bond and her husband Art, David Anderson Jr, Jennifer Vroman, Jeffrey Anderson, Justin Anderson and Jeremy Anderson; 17 great grandchildren including Brayton Edward Bond and Madison Kennedy Bond, and sister in law, Patricia Clark and her 2 sons, Christopher and Mark Rakauskas.
