Eileen M. Haney, 84, passed away Friday, November 20, 2015, in Houston TX.
She was born in Brooklyn, NY, and prior to her move to Texas, she resided in Norwalk, CT, Crystal River, FL, New Vernon and Madison, NJ, Brooklyn and Queens, NY. Eileen started her nursing career at Victory Memorial Hospital and eventually moved to the Brooklyn VA Hospital in Bay Ridge. After a break to raise her children, Eileen returned to nursing at Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Morristown, NJ. Eileen served as president of Home School associations for both Villa Walsh Academy (Morristown, NJ) and Oratory Preparatory School (Summit, NJ). She was a caring person who helped take care of her friends and neighbors.
She volunteered frequently at Red Cross blood drives, and in her community library.
Eileen was preceded in death by her father, Michael Cronin; mother, Mary J. Cronin (nee Dolan); brother, Michael J. Cronin; husband, Thomas B. Haney; and grandson, Michael Thomas Haney. She is survived by son, Peter M. Haney; (Houston, TX); daughter, Jean Haney (Norwalk, CT); daughter, Karen Haney (Waldoboro, ME); brother, Patrick C. Cronin (Cuddebackville, NY); brother, Donald A. Cronin (Atlanta, GA); eight grandchildren (Eileen Ford, Ann Marie Haney, Karen Haney, Maria Haney, Teresa Haney, Thomas Haney, Jamie Phillips, Elizabeth Haney) and one great-grandchild (Clayton Ford).
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be Tuesday, November 24, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Vigil to be held at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road, Houston, Texas 77056. Eileen will be laid to rest, joining her beloved Thomas following a Rite of Committal on Friday, November 27, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell FL.
