Elizabeth (Bette) J. Davis, 89, of Inverness, Fla., died July 3, 2012, under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Citrus County at Woodland Terrace in Hernando, Fla.

She was born Dec. 21, 1922, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Leo and Inez Schwartz. Bette graduated from LaSalle College with an associate's degree in accounting. She worked for Harvard University in the Grants Department and retired in 1988 after 27 years of service.
Bette enjoyed ceramics, the ocean and boating on Lake Ossippee, N.H. Most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren. Bette was proud of her many years of teaching CCD and preparing children for their first Holy Communion. She was a Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
Bette was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Davis. Survivors include her daughters, Leslie Penny of Montclair, N.J., Christine Carter of Istachatta, Fla., Kathleen Thomas of Floral City, Fla., and Darlene J. Indorato of Inverness, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Mrs. Davis will be Friday, July 6, 2012, at Heinz Funeral Home, Inverness, Fla., from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., with a vigil service at 5:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 7, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Citrus Springs, Fla., at 11 a.m. Father Charles Leke will preside. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial donation in Bette's name be made to Hospice of Citrus County, P.O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464.
