Mrs. Elma Louise Jaynes Obituary
Mrs. Elma Louise Jaynes, age 96 of Hernando, Florida, died Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Hospice House in Lecanto, FL.
She was born December 24, 1920 in Spencer, WV, daughter of Deering and Opal (McConnell) Pursley. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for Depue Hospital and Spencer State Hospital were she retired. She had a associate degree from the Chicago of Nursing. She moved to Hernando, Florida from Spencer, WV in 1980. Mrs. Jaynes was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hernando.
Mrs. Jaynes was preceded in death by her father, Deering C. Pursley, mother, Opal Anna Pursley, husband, Homer B. Jaynes., brother, Hayden Charles Pursley, and sister Iris Ruth Simmons. Survivors include her daughter, Janet (Jeff) Deason of Hernando, FL, Step Son, Jerry L. (Lois) Jaynes of Huntington, WV, sister, Eileen McKee of Millstone, WV, 2 Grandchildren: Jason (Deanne) Harper of Vail, AZ, and Sara Harper of Scott Depot, WV, 2 Step Grandchildren: Christina and Nick Jaynes of King George, VA, 2 Great Grandchildren: Sophie and Penelope Harper of Vail, AZ, and a Special Family Friend: Joe Cole.
A Memorial Service was held April 7th, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Hernando. Elma worked for the Surgeon Generals Office in Washington D.C. during WWII. She loved to sing in the choir and loved her church family. Her wonderful smile could light up a room. She enjoyed reading, playing domino's, sewing and spending time with her family and friends.
